AUGUST 5 2007
I stayed with friends in Edmonton. They took me the very interesting and enjoyable Heritage Festival. Here are some folk dancers.
AUGUST 7 2007
I took the bus from Edmonton to Kamloops. All day we passed through the Canadian Rockies, especially west of Calgary. I had been west of Banff on the train, but that was long ago. I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants an enjoyable bus ride. There were not many chances to take videos or photos, but if you had a car it would be a perfect trip.
AUGUST 8 2007
I took the bus to Vancouver from Kamloops, British Columbia. I got instructions on how to get to my Vancouver hotel. I walked up Main Street and made a left turn and this led me into street people pushing shopping carts and trying to sell DVD players. I was not harmed and finally went the other way and found my hotel in a relatively better area of Vancouver. That evening, since I was close to Chinatown, I ate Chinese. It was wonderful. The next day I flew Air Canada to San Francisco.

SOME MORE FROM THE MUSEUM OF GLASS AT TACOMA. MOST OF THIS DAY WAS SPENT ON AMTRAK FROM SAN FRANCISCO TO SEATTLE.
AUGUST 14 2007
I could spend hours looking at Mount Rainer and the freighters from many lands from my sister's deck. My father, Alton John Pederson, also spent hours viewing the ships in the harbor.
AUGUST 16 2007 THE RECEPTION
This reception was held at my sister'home overlooking Puget Sound in Tacoma. After the reception we all went to the Cliff House for the rehearsal dinner.
AUGUST 18 2007
I took Amtrak from Seattle to Minot. Paul and Liz were very kind a drove me to the station. The food was great and the service outstanding. When we boarded at Seattle we were given complimentary champagne and a fresh cookie. There was wine tasting also. The smoke from the fires made the trip through the Rockies not as spectacular as they might be.
AUGUST 19 2007
When I arrived Minot on Amtrak there was some bad news. Due to high water the train could go no further than Minneapolis. Travelers would be bussed to Chicago and points in between. For some it was nerve wracking because they did not know if they would make connections out of Chicago.
I spent the night at Minot's Super 8 and avoided any problems.

AUGUST 4 2007
I awoke, took a shower and noted that there was a coffee pot in the room but no coffee or cups. I went downstairs for breakfast. The waitress was attractive but surly. I returned to the room and packed up and headed for the checkout. I asked the clerk why there was no coffee or coffee cups in by room. He shrugged his shoulders and said: “some of the room have coffee and cups and some don’t”. He was kind of surly like the waitress.
Then I headed for the airport for my Air Canada flight to Edmonton. Nothing special happened except the inspector said I could of checked my bag and would not have to go through the inspection. They were kind and courteous.
When I got to Edmonton I was met by Sharon, my host. She lives in a wonderful residential section of the city. One of the first things they showed me was the Edmonton Mall, which is the world’s largest.
Then I headed for the airport for my Air Canada flight to Edmonton. Nothing special happened except the inspector said I could of checked my bag and would not have to go through the inspection. They were kind and courteous.

AUGUST 3 2007
I left my home in Valley City ND and headed for the bus station. When I got there I was informed that they no longer sell bus tickets. I called the Trailways 800 number and they told me how much a senior ticket was and that I could pay the driver in cash. When the bus arrived I was in the restroom. They are almost never on time. One of the Tesoro workers went out with me to stop the bus from leaving. I paid the driver and got on board for the trip to Fargo.
I had very wisely bought my ticket to Winnipeg in advance. It only cost me $30 to go from Fargo to Winnipeg. At the Fargo bus station we all had to sign a sheet that was to be faxed to the Immigration people in Emerson MB right on the border.
At the border some young uniformed Immigration people boarded the bus. They asked us for our passports. The Canadian citizens got to stay in the bus; everyone else had to go in to be interrogated. The Canadians can refuse entry to people that have a DWI and we had some on our bus. Everyone, even the DWI people, passed and we were all allowed to go into beautiful and friendly Canada.
I spent the night at the Thriftlodge and I will tell you tomorrow what happened at checkout.
